Clayburn Middle School - Drama
Each year Clayburn Middle School puts on a Musical as part of the Drama program. Students are given the opportunity to join a fun, energetic, enthusiastic and exciting group of young and talented middle school "Drama Kings" and "Drama Queens". In October, we host auditions and students who are interested in taking part in this exciting 6-month journey can come out to the auditions and sign-up. Every student who auditions is given a role in the musical whether it's in the chorus, dancing group, lead-role, minor role or even stage support. In May, we have 4 performances: 1 for the students of Clayburn Middle School, 1 for the Grade 6 students of our Feeder Elementary Schools and 2 Evening Performances. The performances take place at the Clarke Foundation Theatre. The musical can be one of the most rewarding experiences for a student and we encourage anyone (Students and Parents) who are interested or who simply love drama to come out and take part in this wonderful adventure!
General Expectations
Rehearsals begin in November and occur during lunch times and on Saturdays. A rehearsal schedule is posted with details on the what is being rehearsed each time here on the Clayburn Music & Drama Webpage. Students are required to keep track of the practices they need to be at and if they are unable to make a practice give PRIOR NOTICE! Please note that once your child signs up, they must be committed to completing the play by attending ALL of the rehearsals and ALL of the performances. Any student that is not willing to make this commitment should choose another area of pursuit. The Play Must Go ON!
Parent Volunteers
Parents are always encouraged to help out with the musical. We are always looking for help with set designs and manufacturing, costume maintenance and creation and acting & singing coaches. If you want to or think you can help then please contact Mrs. Julie Spaeti (Director), Mrs. Diane Shepit (Costumes & Set Director) or Mr. Aaron Long (Music Director) and submit your name and contact information.
